About the Beyond the Notes Team
Dr. J. Steven Moore is the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies at the University of Miami Frost School of Music. He recently served as Chair of the Department of Music at the University of Central Missouri where he taught conducting, music education, and conducted the Symphonic Band. Moore is a strong advocate for music literacy and has developed nationally recognized programs of excellence at the secondary and collegiate level. He has served as a music conductor at Colorado State University, University of Kentucky, Central Kentucky Youth Orchestras, and Lafayette H.S. in Lexington, Kentucky. Dr. Moore has developed digital books, movies, and training materials for music educators and is author of Play It From the Heart: What You Learn From Music About Success in Life. Kimberly Sena Moore, MM, MT-BC is a board certified music therapist who joined the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music in Fall 2014. Through her role as Regulatory Affairs Associate for the Certification Board for Music Therapists, she is involved in state-level advocacy, legislative, and policy issues affecting music therapy practice. Online, Kimberly co-hosts the Music Therapy Round Table podcast, and blogs at “Your Musical Self” for Psychology Today and Music Therapy Maven. She is a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where her clinical and research interests center on music therapy and emotion regulation development in neurodevelopmentally at-risk children.
Mike Wille studied under Dr. Moore at Colorado State University playing bass trombone and sousaphone in the college bands. He graduated with a Business – Computer Information Systems degree but still focused on music. In 2005 Mike joined a U.S. tour of the Tony Award winning show, Blast!. Tours of Blast! and Blast II M.I.X. have taken Mike to Japan four times where he played bass trombone, tuba, didgeridoo and auxiliary percussion. Mike also had the opportunity to record with Oscar winning composer A.R. Rahman in Chennai, India, for the soundtrack of the movie Jodhaa Akbar. Mike currently owns and operates Tastic Productions – a web site development and media production company. Mike developed the Beyond The Notes Online Music Learning (at www.BeyondTheNotes.net) with Flash, PHP, and MySQL.
